Purplemoon News-January Monthly Musing

November’s Purplemoon Monthly Musing is published

On the last Wednesday of every month, a musing will be published, and January’s edition in the final in a set of three ‘Getting to the Heart of it’. This one explores The inadvertent harm that the Nolan Principles may cause.

In education and the wider public sector, we talk frequently about ethics — selflessness, integrity, accountability.
But rarely do we stop and ask:

At what point do these standards stop guiding us… and start exhausting us?

This is the conclusion of the trilogy exploring what sits at the heart of supervision, and in particular the supervision of education staff.

This musing grew from powerful discussions in cross‑professional supervision, where one striking difference emerged:

👉 In other caring professions, self‑care is an ethical requirement.
👉 In teaching, self‑care is invisible — but selflessness is mandatory.

It’s time we talked honestly about the human cost of that imbalance.

The musings are posted via Jenny’s LinkedIn profile, which you can reach by clicking here.  Or you can click on the image to find it on the blog page on the website. Alternatively you can find all the monthly musings here
