Purplemoon News-August 2026 Monthly Musing

August’s Purplemoon Monthly Musing is published

On the last Wednesday of every month, a musing will be published,

As educators across the country prepare for the start of a new academic year, Purple Moon’s latest Monthly Musing invites readers to explore a simple yet often overlooked wellbeing tool: silence.

In “Finding Ourselves in the Silence”, Jenny Bowers reflects on the importance of creating intentional moments of quiet amidst the noise and demands of school life. Drawing on Dr Saundra Dalton-Smith’s concept of sensory rest, the musing explores how reducing stimulation can help restore energy, support emotional wellbeing and create space for reflection.

At the heart of the piece is a simple practice:

Stop. Breathe. Reflect.

Inspired in part by Alexi Murdoch’s gentle reminder, “Don’t forget to breathe,” this latest reflection offers a timely invitation for educators to pause before the new term gathers momentum.

The musings are posted via Jenny’s LinkedIn profile, which you can reach by clicking here.  Or you can click on the image to find it on the blog page on the website. Alternatively you can find all the monthly musings here
